Greenfinches were enjoying….

the sunshine in the garden this morning, after a hard frost overnight again. A lovely day all day at home, but we chose to go north where it was a bit gloomy. However, all was well. This is what’s left of Fortrose Cathedral, just the Chapter House. It was built by Euphemia, Countess of Ross. My interest in her is that she was married, briefly to Alexander Stewart, the Wolf of Badenoch, who needed her money and, when he continued to live in Lochindorb Castle with his common law wife and their five children she divorced him and had him excommunicated. This ultimately led to his desire to burn down Elgin Cathedral and Pluscarden Abbey.
