The benefits of cleaning

Post holiday I finally got around to tuning the television so I can watch live TV without having to go through several fire stick manoeuvres. I also tidied up the balcony cluttered with detritus from the storms last month. I could hear the drumming of woodpecker that was close by, but out of sight. According to NatureScot there has been a 500% increase in great spotted woodpecker numbers since 1994.
They don’t mention jays, which are quite common around here and one this morning obliged by perching quite close.
Later, looking up from my Spanish revision, I spotted the woodpecker, not a great extra blip but it made my afternoon especially when I saw at least 2 more flitting about.
