Standing In This Place

A new sculpture has just been installed in Nottingham’s central city park.

We walked past it today and had just missed the community choir and other celebratory events.

Standing In This Place, by sculptor Rachel Carter, references the city’s textile trade and the people who worked in it.

Exciting to have a new, original, piece of public sculpture, particularly one which focuses on the city’s multi ethnic heritage and the female workforce which established the city as a major industrial centre.
