On the road to Port Macquarie
The riverside park beside the Hunter River in Raymond Terrace looked very peaceful. Spot the black cows in the shade under the trees. In 1955 a major flood submerged Raymond Terrace. The floodwaters reached 14 feet in the main town centre, submerging many of its fine heritage buildings.
Further on, at Bulahdelah the former St Joseph’s convent was destroyed by fire two years ago (extra).
We had a lovely drive today, even if disasters were rather a theme.
