It’s a long story…
It began yesterday evening when Shelly started to feel sick. Last night he couldn’t sleep. He was coughing and sneezing but no fever. So he canceled gym and decided not to go to a local play this evening. He was having trouble getting around and seemed a bit confused. He suggested I still go to the play and invite a friend which I did. We went with friends Stu and Judy. I felt a bit not okay leaving Shelly alone.
The play was great. The four of us headed to a local restaurant for dinner. We sat and ordered dinner. Then my phone rang. “Can you come home?” It was Shelly. I told him we were at the restaurant. He said that he was bleeding. I rushed home on foot while the gang changed the order to take out. Our condo is just a few blocks from the restaurant.
I got there and found Shelly bleeding from a forehead wound. I could see he needed stitches so I called 911. The EMS guys took Shelly to the hospital and I followed by car.
Turned out Shelly has influenza A. He fell at home because he was so weak from the flu. It took several hours to get his wound fixed and medication for the flu. Turns out that Superbowl Sunday is a busy day in the emergency department. They were going to send him home after he got fixed up but he couldn’t stand and walk so he is spending the night at the hospital. I finally got a chance to eat my dinner. Poor Shelly. What a day!
