Life's Little Moments

Geronimo!

A fabulous morning photographing raptors, including two families of Harris Hawks.  These beautiful hawks are, I believe, the only hawks that hunt cooperatively, meaning that they will take turns chasing prey and herd prey towards other hawks in the pack.  They have even been observed to hunt in packs across tolerant groups, which gives them the nick-name of "wolf hawks".  I took about 2,000 images this morning and had a quick run through to dump blurred images - and knew I had my image for the day when I saw this one.  This is an immature Harris Hawk, still with its parents.

We had a short rain shower this morning and the clouds lingered which made for perfect shooting conditions.  Getting ready to head out now for our afternoon session.

Adios from TX.
