Jacobaea vulgaris

Also known as Ragwort. It's a widespread weed, that has nasty smelling leaves and is poisonous to horses. Horse-owners want rid of it and we used to have a lot in our field but we've carefully up-rooted it each year and now there's very little. I spotted a few bright yellow flowers poking up above the tall grasses this afternoon.

As a smelly, poisonous weed it doesn't have much going for it really, which is a shame because I like it's bright, cheerful flowers.
