Slipper orchid
Kew Gardens orchid festival, London
A very grey day, but we found colour in the glasshouses. The orchid displays were spectacular. Though we were also as taken (if not, perhaps, slightly more) by some of the plants in the Palm and Temperate houses. Including the sausage tree, bananas, lemons, beautifully scented blossom and jasmine, alongside various other flowers.
We also saw foxes, jays, a badger sett (though no badgers, as however dull it was still daytime) an unlikely goose couple, various other waterfowl, a heron and numerous parakeets. Lots of people watching too, as well as friendly locals who seemed keen to speak to visitors.
