Brunch

There’s a Norwegian cafe on Instagram that I’ve followed for ages and have always wanted to go to. It’s Norsk in Haddenham, about 45 minutes from home. The food and decor looks gorgeous and they have lots of Scandi homeware. And a brilliant Instagram account that just makes you want to go!
Today was the day! I arranged to meet mum there at noon and set off along the exact same HS2 chaos roads that I went down last night. It was a lot less stressful in the daytime and, once through all the destruction and out the other side of Waddesdon, beautiful!
I had laughed at myself going all that way to what could turn out to be a rubbish tiny cafe in the middle of nowhere. All on the basis of a few photos on Instagram.
I needn’t have worried!!
It was amazing! Packed full of happy people, lovely atmosphere, AMAZING food, delicious drinks. I could have had almost everything on the menu but we both plumped for smashed avocado and mushroom Smorbrod - thyme and garlic roasted mushrooms, crispy pancetta on smashed avocado on toasted sourdough. Topped with a poached egg, rocket, parmesan, micro herbs & a drizzle of rapeseed oil. Delish!!!!!
And huge!! What a treat.
We went for an explore of the village afterwards. What a revelation! It’s such a beautiful village - picture book cottages all higggledy piggledy up winding lanes and alleys. Interesting tall tiled walls everywhere, a beautiful village green, ponds (famous for the Aylesbury ducks), a lovely church and graveyard. It was like being on holiday exploring villages. Why don’t we do it more closer to home?!
I needed the loo by the time we got back to the car so I said I’d pop back into the cafe to use theirs and get a cup of tea for the journey home. Mum suggested we sit and have another drink so it was tea and chai latte. Delicious again!!!
I can’t wait to get back in better weather.
There’s loads of lovely walks round there so definitely worth the journey.
I stopped off at the post office on the way out of the village. I like to send eBay parcels from all over the country!
