Male Goldeneye
Went for a walk round Hogganfield Loch this morning. We saw plenty of birds but it was bitterly cold and rain threatened a couple of times.
There aren't many Goldeneyes on the loch ...... this morning I just saw two males. They are easily recognised with the white patch in front of their yellow eye.
The swans are so used to being fed that they start following just like The Pied Piper and the rats. Among the many Mute Swans on the loch there are some Whoopers easily recognised by their smaller yellow and black bills. The Mute Swans stay throughout the year but the Whoopers are winter visitors.
