Wearing bright colours

Today we attended the funeral of our friend Frances' husband Chris. He died very suddenly from pancreatitis on 21st January 2025, aged just 64.

Frances asked mourners to dress in bright colours. I think that Mr hazelh did well with his outfit, as blipped. The scarf is actually mine, crocheted by Ailish a couple of years ago.

I dressed primarily for the cold, so togged up in thermals, velvet, and cashmere, all black. I added a splash of colour with a red pashmina. I doubt that anyone noticed, but I also switched over my rings so that I wore one with six different coloured stones: a ruby, an emerald, a citrine, a sapphire, and an amethyst, plus ten diamonds. (Yes, just call me Elizabeth Taylor!)

As might be expected at a funeral for someone relatively young, there were a lot of people at the crematorium, and at the Queen Charlotte rooms in Leith for the funeral tea afterwards. Frances did well to speak to everyone who came, and we were really pleased that she was able to spend quite a long time chatting with us.

The other (very annoying) news of the day is that our heating is still on the blink. I overheard Mr hazelh complain to Scottish Gas this afternoon that he suspects that aliens have hacked the system! The next engineer will come on Monday...

Exercise today: 1 hour on the exercise bike; walking (~14k steps).
