Diary of an Edinburgher

Archie goes shopping…

JR, after the gym, went off with her pal to see ‘A Complete Unknown’, the Bob Dylan film, again.

Archie and I went out for a walk, but I had to cut it short and come home - it was SO cold. The hand that I can’t put in a pocket to keep warm (my walking stick hand) was frozen! Also, I needed the hat that covers my ears.

Once I was warmed up, we set off again, calling in at the shop for potatoes for air fryer chips for tea. Then I had to go out again to the shop for chicken for tea, because, sadly, I could not work out how to defrost it in the microwave.

We passed the little greengrocer’s. There are new owners, and I wasn’t sure if they dished out doggie treats like the previous owner. Archie assumed they did, and started barking at the door and the new owner laughed and waved us in, and gave him a big treat. I suggested she got tiny treats.

Archie then spent ages sniffing at a large basket of eggs which were on the floor. Sniff, sniff, sniff. Lick, lick, lick Then he started trying to pick one up…

I dragged him off and changed the subject. I felt I should buy something. I grabbed a couple of large nan breads. Then I saw a Selkirk Bannock - my favourite! I had to get one of them as well.
