Solar System

Nice to see one of our student's work coming together nicely at lunchtime: a toy solar system using acrylic rings to locate the planets so that they can revolve independently around the sun.

Two sheets of acrylic (black & white) were laser cut together in one go. Amazingly the sheets fuse/bond seamlessly together during the vapourizing of the laser. This is something I discovered a few years by accident whilst trying to find out how thick a cut the laser cutter could go. Happy days? Sure was: happy and smiling was the student.
