Silent book club

The second meeting of our new group took place tonight, once again in the local pub. The idea of a silent book club is that it’s a space to read together but not be obliged to talk about the books. Every four weeks you just bring along whatever title you want, get a drink, maybe have a chat for half an hour (usually about books) then read in silence for an hour. It’s absolute heaven in a warm and cosy snug with maybe a dozen other women.

SBC began in the US as a space for introverts to share an experience with no expectations of bringing anything to the meeting, except yourself and a book to read. It’s a growing movement in the UK so if it appeals to you do please find a local group and try it.
