Miss Denne's AGA

Still not managing to keep up completely with posting on the day (or getting much of a chance to browse other blips, which I love doing), but I'm trying. The point where the alternative images will also appear somewhere online is fast approaching I think. I'm still choosing the image that spoke to me most, rather than necessarily the 'best' one.

I just took some pictures for my Mum, of her classic MG which she's selling* and was dawdling back to the house, doing the equivalent of dragging my satchel and kicking stones on my way to school.

On the high street is one of those buildings that's obviously been empty for years, with bits of scaffolding clamping various unsafe parts together. Round the back I found a weedy garden with a sad old chair fading in the sun, a Portaloo that had clearly been installed as the permanent 'lavvy', and the random detritus that such places contain pressed up against cloudy windows.

A box labelled "Miss Denne" and printed with the "AGA" logo sat forlornly in the window of the outhouse above the discarded furniture, and had me wondering what happened to Miss Denne - did she too browse wistfully through the romance section? Were there lots of people at her funeral? Did she wish she'd bought a Rayburn instead?

Caught in a straggly wisp of spider's web was this little dandelion seed, who had set out on life's great journey full of anticipation and potential, only to come to rest in an old lady's favorite chair.

*Anyone want a lovely green sports car? Great condition, at least one lady owner - perfect for exploring the Borders :D )
