Hockney at Salts Mill
Went down to Saltaire this morning to take a look at the new David Hockney exhibition, ‘20 Flowers for 2025 and some bigger pictures.’ .
Entering the 3rd floor gallery there was a composition made up of 6 iPad images. It soon became apparent that this was animated and my blip today is a compilation of stills from this as the technique of creating an iPad image unfolded. As a non artist I found it fascination. This image is called ‘Water Lilies in the Pond with Pots of Flowers’. I would guess that this image is from his Normandy home but others including a video in 9 images taken in the snow came from the Yorkshire Wolds.
We are so lucky to see these free exhibitions in the magnificent setting of the galleries at Salts Mill. The mill, always worth a visit, was saved and transformed in the 1980’s by Jonathon Silver who was a personal friend of Hockney from school days.
After a good look around we went down to the Diner on the second floor for a coffee and then perused the various shops on that floor too.
For those of you who showed an interest in the historic Alhambra Theatre in yesterday’s blip I’ve added a link to this 125 year old theatre’s website.
This blip is particularly for NannaK - Karen. She too loved Salts Mill on her visit and embraced Hockney’s iPad art for herself. If she feels up to it I’ve added an album on Flickr
The images looked wrong on a white backround so I've changed it to black
