san juan de fano

I had to go to Oviedo today and chose the back roads. Fano is in the southern edges of the concejo of Gijón, and has not much more in it than the old church of San Juan. This photo shows the capitals beneath the arch over the west entrance of the romanesque church of San Juan, Fano. It´s from the 13th century and has some resemblance I think to a frieze in the church of St Mary and St Hardulph, in Breedon on the Hill, Leicestershire, which I´ll show in extra.
