Carol's ramblings

Thursday fun

Last crochet today before half term, nearly there.  Homework to finish it off by the start of classes, think it’s achievable.

Stopped off in town on the way back home to pick up a “click and collect” item, they are getting ready for half term (theme is Treasure Hunt - You can discover 12 life-sized brick models, including the notorious Captain Blackbird, his shipmates and other hidden treasures).

Lace meeting tonight (zoom), great speaker on the Rachel Kay-Shuttleworth Collection who lived and died at Gawthorpe Hall in Burnley.  Gawthorpe Hall is now owned by the National Trust.  “ The Collection is an accredited museum and independent registered charity with an ambition to develop a centre of excellence for textile learning based on its collection of over 30,000 items, one of the largest textile collections in the UK and the only collection of its kind in Lancashire. The majority of the collection is available to view and study by appointment only, but a selection of items can be seen on display at Gawthorpe Hall.”. She was also a keen Girl Guider, eager to teach textile crafts particularly English embroidery and lacemaking.  It was a great talk.
