Farewell sweet bean
Today was the day we said goodbye the sweetest dog that ever there was. Our dear Lacy.
She had the odds stacked against her from the start. She spent 6 months in the shelter, difficult to rehome because of her exuberance and jumping up on people. She was going a bit crazy. She spent a weekend at home with us, formed an instant connection with our other dogs and us and the rest is history. Her health was always on the edge, skin issues, digestion issues, but with E’s watchful vigilance, care and research on diet, she did well.
In her youth, she was an absolute powerhouse, from the greyhound side. Not sure you could call it swimming, perhaps blasting through the water describes her most favourite thing. And a joy to watch. Perhaps playing soccer was just as much a favourite, she was fiercely competitive with the ball, from the sheep dog side. Many a visitor will remember her for the way she’d come to you and rest her head between your legs, a little surprising for first time visitors. This was her way of recognising you as a friend of the family.
Certainly won’t miss how hard she was on the carpet, especially as her health deteriorated with old age. But the ills and spills pale into insignificance when thinking of the joy and love she brought into our lives.
Farewell sweet bean.
