On Guard

In the bar area at Sneaton Castle, Whitby stands this statue guarding the approach to the function room. This evening, to launch the Dark Skies Festival organised by the North Yorks Moors National Park, there was a talk by Dame Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock MBE entitled Reaching For the Sky. Dame Maggie is one of the co presenters of The Sky at Night following in the footsteps of Sir Patrick Moore. What a great inspirational speaker she is.
