Matilda…
…seen at Edward’s Winery this morning. Tasted one Chardonnay but didn’t like it.
Checked out the new restaurant next door, Miss Chows. Looked lovely but $$$!
Here is the backstory behind the reason for having a bright yellow Tiger Moth in the tasting rooms...
HISTORY
In 1990, vineyard founder Brian Edwards piloted his 1943 Tiger Moth Matilda across the world from England to Australia in what became one of the epic solo flights in the annals of aviation and an epic journey for charity.
It was the flight of a passionate man and his redoubtable flying machine. His epic flight ended in Perth, and he and his wife Jenny purchased land in nearby Margaret River to begin another journey, planting and building the Edwards estate and their family
Today Matilda holds pride of place at our Margaret River Cellar Door as a reminder that there is no limit to what can be accomplished through passion, determination and if the heart is right.
Brian’s pioneering presence and passion to reach for the sky lives on through the award-winning wines produced at Edwards. Our Wine is a tribute to both of them.
I can remember Matilda flying up and down the coast years ago. Brian Edwards was a physiotherapist and quite famous for his flying feats
