Loch Clair
This morning we drove off the Isle of Skye to explore the area around Loch Torridon. Our first stop was Loch Clair as can be seen here - when we arrived the moon was setting behind the mountain and I did get some photos including the moon but it looked like a car headlight in the sky! The subtle pinks in the sky here were pretty to see. It was freezing cold standing around the loch and by the time I got back to the car I couldn't feel my fingers or feet.
We drove around the Applecross area and a small section of the NC 500 route, and stopped at various places to take photos. No big hikes today but plenty of scrambling up and down tufty banks and walking across uneven moors. We stopped for coffees (Guy's car has a built in custom made serving section where he makes filter coffee for us) on the top of a hill overlooking the beautiful views while two golden eagles were soaring just above us.
After a few more stops we found our way to The Torridon Hotel where we had lunch. Then after lunch on to photograph Shieldaig and finally a drive down the steepest road in Scotland, Beach na Bà, where we took some drone shots of the mountain pass.
We got back to Skye quite late and had a 'leftovers' supper. Tomorrow morning we pack up early and depart Skye, but there is quite a bit to do beforehand like clear out bins, strip beds and take the recycling to the centre in town. We will be photographing around Fort William tomorrow and are staying there for the night, before I return home on Sunday. I am feeling very tired now and am looking forward to relaxing once I get home again.
Happy Valentine's Day, hope you remembered to wish that someone special in your life!
