His Mighty Shield

Rich and I don't usually do anything for Valentines Day (we get grumpy at how busy, expensive, and limited-menu-option-y it all is), but as we're off work this week and the new Captain America came out today, we decided to hit the cinema. The film was fine, I guess, but I had two major issues with it; firstly that it's a bit politically wishy-washy (which, given the current state of everything is not something I'm really interested in) and secondly, they've really made Cap himself very boring. I don't think it's Mackie, as I've seen him in other stuff (including other Marvel movies) and very much enjoyed him, so it must be a writing thing, but Wilson-as-Cap was just getting completely outshone by almost every other character there, including one who literally only turned up for a 2 minute cameo...! After the film we popped to Purecraft where I had one of my favourite beers, a black grape sour from Vault City, and ended the evening scoffing a yummy meatball sub at The Wolf. Delightful.
