New York!

Very easy day, catching a plane around midday and arriving into New York around 3.. a long queue for me and a fast through for Vik,  Annoying that my Global Entry has lapsed - there seems to be a new mobile version but I haven’t checked that out yet. 

We are staying at the Freehand hotel near the Flat Iron.  It’s a young basic hotel, part of a US chain I think.  It’s quite simple but we have a big corner room which is a luxury in New York and we look up Lexington to the Chrysler building which is rather nice at night.  V was born in NY and has much of his family here so he knows it well but we haven’t been here together for a while. 

He’s pulled together a gastro itinerary as you would expect, some high some low.  All look fun.  So this evening we set out on the town.  We started here at Pot Luck Club in Chrystie St just North of China Town, in the Lower East Side.   It’s a restaurant inspired by Hong Kong films of the 1970s but the food was fabulous and the vibe young and fun.  We drank Hong Kong beer and ate pot stickers and XO rice.  Ordered far too much but it was a fun start to the stay.
