Snowed In
We had a big snow drop overnight which threw a monkey wrench into our book club meeting this morning. Our friend Sandy who lives north of us was snowed in and could not drive down but, hey no problem..we have Zoom...
If it works.
It was my neighbour Elaine's turn to host, but with only the two of us showing up in person, she decided to host it at my place..perhaps because I have a fireplace to sit by in a snow storm? Anyway, she had conscientiously sent out zoom invites to us all just in case of storm, but alas, the one to our friend in Nova Scotia somehow got muddled or maybe our friend muddled it - which often happens.. but whatever, the zoom effort was a fiasco - as it often is!
Elaine and Sandy tried their best to untangle everything and start again (extra) whilst I sat back, having no energy, after yesterday's bureaucratic nightmare, to tackle yet another frustrating challenge. In the end, they got us back on track and the meeting went ahead.
The book was an autobiography by Beverley McLachlin, the first woman Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada. We were all equally impressed by her achievements and of course, as we had lived through many of the major decisions the Court made during her tenure, we had much to share.
The snow plough did not get to us until after dark, so it was indeed a day "snowed in".
