In bed last night at 02.35 hrs after getting the launch back from the Flotta Burns Supper at 01.30 hrs.  On leaving Flotta it crosses Scapa Flow to Lyness to drop off Hoy Folk.  We later disembarked at Houton,  As usual the Flotta folk made everyone very welcome with a fine meal, good band and plenty of dancing.  Climax was an incredibly fast Strip the Willow.  Although, once again, there was no Strip the Willow Square.  As for the Eightsome, it’s fallen right off the dance list of inevitability and the last time we danced it was in Shetland about eight years ago.  Do not be over-concerned, no-one will stop you in the street and ask you anything about this.  There were two Flotta wifies present who, between them had spent 178 years living on Flotta.  They were really keen to chat.  On my way back to base, after visiting my mother, I called in past Kathleen to give her part of her birthday pressie.  I later spent a lot of the day packing my case for my expedition.
