Moments in a minor key

By Dcred

Rainy night at a bus stop

Late night street corner, bus-stop
waiting. Dripping in the rain.
Saw your face, staged
in the mise-en-scene
of a single, second-story windowpane.

Your stalking-cat eyes alive
with hunger undescribed
and a mouth that flashed
a neon message undisguised
if you kiss me, kiss me good!
And goddam, given the chance
I knew I could and would

As i memorized the sculpted
nose profile
and studied the texture of your hair
You swept your searchlight gaze
my way, and met my stare
a smile; slightest nod
as if some small understanding
had been shared

I contemplated,
a traverse of the street
maybe I would climb the stair.
and the bus hissed along
and swallowed me
rolled off into
the rainy night
left you standing
at your window there
