When You Can See The Wood For The Trees
A pretty quiet day today and as it was cold, wet and windy we couldn't even be asked to go for our usual run. Instead we watched some more you tube photography videos with a strong coffee and I then decided to make some bread.
After the mixing, kneading and two periods of proving, more kneading and then finally the baking itself I was quite happy with the result. We then needed to head to the shops to get some more butter to have with the freshly baked bread and so my brother could get the ingredients to make a ginger marmalade cake.
I spotted the possibility for today's image later when we were sitting with some pint based beverages in The Pippin and I suddenly saw the potential for a visual pun. A few minutes later I was in the pub car park down on one knee in a puddle to get the right angle to capture this shot of the side of a van with the trees in the background. Luckily nobody came out to ask what I was doing! The lengths we go to for blip! :-)
Today's favourite story is about 36 year-old taxi driver Callum Maclean from Falkirk, a competitor in armoured fighting for Scotland, who began walking around his local area in his alter ego's full knight's metal garb around two years ago without initially revealing who he was by covering his face with a visor.
However, he decided to finally reveal his identity after clips of his latest exploits as the "Falkirk Knight" went viral - when he ventured out in Storm Eowyn's up to 100 mph winds and was filmed aiding struggling pedestrians. He said " I was standing in the full-blown storm while people were getting blown past me and I was trying to help them up the hill because I could walk through it. I wanted to make a couple to people smile, but I made thousands of people smile."
He hopes to use his viral success to give back to his home town, setting up an online page to fund repairs for storm-battered Falkirk. Chivalry isn't dead yet!
