Saturday -- Looking from Morro Rock to Cayucos
The bay was filled with entertainment today: boaters, surfers, beach-goers, and birds.
We woke-up today knowing that we were going to phone “Furniture Factory” at 10 o’clock when they opened to learn if they still had the chest of drawers available that we had seen in the showroom yesterday. Once we learned that it was available, we put the pups in their crates and we were in the car going back to San Luis Obispo to make the purchase. A tall chest with 5-drawers, white, and it matches the little nightstand that we had purchased a number of months ago at one of the antique stores here in Cayucos.
After we got the chest in the back of the car, we drove to the main library in SLO. We had never been there. It’s nice and on this Saturday morning we found that section of downtown to be relatively quiet. We then drove back toward the coast.
We had two stops to make before arriving home: the “Dollar Store” which is a great place to get soda pop, other canned and packaged goods, and cleaning supplies. Then we stopped at Miner’s Ace Hardware (which I think has gotten more of our money than any other store in this region). Mr. Fun wanted to purchase wooden knobs for the chest of drawers that we had just purchased, that would enhance the match of nightstand and chest .
We also made a quick stop at Morro Rock (which is where this photo was captured) to watch the surfers and see clear across the bay to Point Estero. This shot actually is looking toward Cayucos and we can see where our house is located because it is right below the scraped portion of the hillside where Highway #1 was constructed in 1963. This has turned into a gorgeous summer day.
Once we arrived home with the chest, I made us lunch. Then we had to figure out how to get the chest up the stairs and into the house. For months Mr. Fun’s knee has been aching, so walking stairs and strenuous work is done very carefully. I carried each of the five drawers up the stairs and then together we carried the chest, which was fairly light, just a bit awkward. We got it done!
So now I have a proper place to put some of my clothes. Woohoo.
We barbecued burgers, watched the ocean, and enjoyed the remainder of the day, but skipped the evening walk to the shoreline, which would not have been the pups choice.
Good night from California’s Central Coast,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
