Brunel

Kristi and I joined a Brunel-inspired walking and boat tour this morning - starting with a boat trip from Embankment to Mast House Quay, a short walk along the river (looking at the launch site of the SS Great Eastern along the way), then a quick hop on the DLR to Shadwell and the Windrush line to Rotherhithe, where we ended up at the Mayflower pub for lunch (passing the Brunel museum on the way). We were so lucky with weather, and it was a small group (just one other couple and the tour guide), so very friendly. We all had lunch and a drink together in the pub.

Kristi and I walked back along the river after that, stopping for a coffee near Tower Bridge - then on to our hotels for a rest before going back out for dinner at The India near Cannon Street. Funny being out on Valentine's evening with pretty much exclusively couples at all the other tables. We went for a couple of nightcaps afterwards at Bar Douro at Flat Iron Square, and it was the same there, unsurprisingly. Nice sitting chatting at an outside table though, under their outdoor heaters.
