I was giving the wisteria a bit of a trim and happened to look down, and there, at my feet, nearly crushed, was this fungus! It's so unusual - haven't seen one for years. Name is Aseroe rubra, and the book, Common Australian Fungi, tells me it's slimey in the centre and smells like rotten flesh or faeces. No, I didn't sniff it!
