Toot-Toot!
There's something about steam powered boats and trains that appeals to many geezers, and I'm one of them.
We went up to Blaine for the Drayton Harbor Days Festival today. It's an annual two day event featuring many maritime activities including a pirate costume contest, a raft race, model boats, vintage steam boats, and much more.
The tall ships Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain were there, offering dockside tours and cruises -- some of them simulated battles with cannons firing.
The owner of this wood burning steamer built the steam engine himself. You can see it in my Flickr Photostream. The sound of the whistle as he pulled away from the dock was music to my ears. The engine itself was very quiet.
