Chris Mullin gave an interesting talk at our monthly U3A meeting this morning. We all remember the horrendous miscarriages of justice and the fantastic investigative journalism by him to find the real IRA Birmingham pub bombers. He had to do this as the courts wouldn’t accept that the forensic expert had made a mistake with his testimony. Despite proving the evidence was unsafe and that the confessions were made under police duress, he could not prove the men who’d spent many years in prison were innocent until he’d found those guilty. Which he did but then a couple of years ago they wanted him to reveal his source. This he refuses to do. He was asked about his opinion of the Lucy Letby case and he said he thinks it will be re-opened as the evidence was again from only one expert.
