An unexciting day for a Collie!

Today I had my normal morning walk which involves a play on the beach and a trek around town. Then we have breakfast and watch a bit of catchup TV and then Ann goes to work and I have 'home alone' snooze time.

Ann gets home from work at about 3.45-4pm-ish and the plan today, was to walk me down the Hayle Estuary, and then do a bit of shopping in Asda. Best laid plans and all that............... On the walk home from work, she suddenly remembered that she had to phone EDF yet again. And that takes a long time. RANT coming up.........................

Also, after a 5 hour shift on her feet and a walk up a steep hill home, she's tired. Plus it was very cold and it was starting to rain. Sooooo............. she said, 'Trixie, let's just go into the field and play with your ball for a bit.' Playing with my ball makes me very, very, tired. In fact 20 mins of playing with my ball makes me more tired than a 2 hr walk which is pretty useful if Ann wants to wear me out quickly.

After my play, I obviously have to guard my ball for a bit, so today I chose to sit on one of our sun terrace chairs. All our outdoor furniture has been pushed to one side and most of it is covered up for the winter. Anyway, I sat there while Ann phoned EDF..................

…..............We had a new meter fitted in our Edinburgh flat on the 18th November 2024 because EDF told us that we were on the RTS (Radio Teleswitch Service) system which is due to end in June 2025. The girl who fitted it, couldn't get it to send meter readings over to EDF, but she said that the 'tech guys' would be able to sort it out remotely within the next two/three weeks. She also couldn't show us how to read the meter manually, because she just 'fits the meters', but that's a whole other story/problem???


Since the 18th November 2024, Ann has phoned EDF eight times to try and resolve the problem. (And messaged them 3 times on WhatsApp). Each time she just keeps getting told. 'Oh I can see you've made a complaint. Your problem has been escalated and someone will be in touch with you soon.' …....You can't blame the call centre handlers, but seriously?...................... why is there no proper service these days?
Each time she phones, she has to wait for 20-30 minutes before she actually gets to speak to a real live person, while listening to a message saying, 'someone will be with you soon.' And then when the 'someone' does actually answer, 80% of the time it's a foreign person that she can't understand, so she ends up asking them to repeat practically everything that they say. ..........No this isn't a racist comment.............. It's a fact!!!


Do you know what?........................ In another 20 years time..................... no one is going to know how to interact in real life with another human being. The teenage pregnacy rate is decreasing because teenagers think that they're in a relationship if they're sending a few messages via 'snapchat/ticktoc', or whatever other online things they use today. …......And so far, I don't think anyone has managed to get pregnant by having an online relationship. Lol!


It's sad?! It's not often that Ann is glad that she's old, but what's life all about if you can't interact in real life with other humans & doggies???
