Waiting…
Well the best laid plans…
After having a relaxing day planned, I got a phone call from my consultant just before midday. My heart sank as my first thought was my surgery had been cancelled but no, because my case is “complicated “ she wanted me to report to the hospital this afternoon to be admitted today with a view to starting IV antibiotics (due to having so many UTIs and sepsis this past year) She also hoped the anaesthetist would see me today.
Got to the hospital at 4pm and the nurse on the ward clearly wasn’t expecting me! We were shown to the waiting room and finally allocated a bed at 8.00pm!
I did manage to speak to the anaesthetist and she was so lovely. She talked me through in detail what will happen when I arrive at the theatre and afterwards. She also assured me that I would be prescribed strong pain medication but there’s no escaping the fact I’m in for a rough few days. She also confirmed some of the procedure will be done laparoscopically but I will also have a large incision due to the size of my uterus and fibroid. They will have to be removed via open surgery.
So now settled on the ward. I am first on the theatre list so should be in theatre by 9am, hopefully done and dusted by midday.
Thank you for all your good thoughts and well wishes. It means a lot xx Will catch up when I can x
Now bring it on!! :-))
