Northern Fells
For a change, the weather was Spring-like in Keswick for the half term weekend.
This co-incided with the Sailing Club's annual winter walk, followed by pea and pie lunch. The route started off along the Keswick to Threlkeld rail path and then branched off up the slopes of Latrigg. Catkins were already shaking their yellow tails in a sharp breeze, and the buds on the silver birches turning the twigs purple in the bright sunlight.
The colour contrast in this view between the warm browns and buffs of the foreground and the remote blue of the Northern fells behind was quite fairy tale like.
This was a cheering thing as, although the event was communal, I missed the start and never caught up. At one point I thought I saw them just disappearing over a skyline a long way above and dashed up a lot of slope to find at the top it wasn't my party at all! However, all turned out well because I didn't miss lunch!
