An ordinary life....

It's not goodbye, just Au Revoir...

Backblipped

The end of another wonderful holiday in France.

So sad to be leaving as not sure we'll make it back next year as it will all depend on what's happening with my knee, what surgery is required and when it will be done. Trying not to think about it at the moment as it scares me a little!

Up at 6am then on the road for the long drive back to Zeebrugge by 7am. After the massive hold up on the Paris Peripherique on the way down to the Vendee, we opted to go back a slightly different route, this time via Rouen, which wasn't ideal as it's a city we always seem to get lost in (you have to drive through it's centre to get from one motorway to another!) Thank heavens for google earth though as I sat yesterday evening and studied the route carefully. We still took a couple of wrong turns but knew where we were meant to be so didn't get lost!

Got to Zeebrugge in plenty of time for the ferry. Went to the Terminal where David dropped Alan and I off as we were going on as foot passengers (again after the nightmare of the outward journey!) and we were escorted onto the ferry by a very helpful steward.

Once again the manager and staff couldn't do enough for us and had arranged new cabins as promised and brought up the tea/coffee making facilities, chocolates and water from the large 5 berth cabin we had booked (as it has loads of floor space for Alan's wheelchair), but Alan's new wheelchair wouldn't fit through the door!! They even gave us complimentary glasses of champagne. Truly wonderful. Well done P&O!

Early bed as we were knackered from the long drive.

PS This odd shot is of the beach at Zeebrugge and was taken with my phone with my arm hanging out the car as we arrived at the ferry port. It was 36 degrees and I thought this pretty crap quirky little snap summed up the heat we were about to leave behind. :)
