North end of Thirlmere
Thirlmere seems to be universally disliked as it has been artificially enlarged by a Dam. I still find it, and it's surroundings, very enjoyable to walk round, especially during half term, when much of the Lakes are busy, and Thirlmere remained quite peaceful.
Both the main pic and the extra are shot at the North end, the main shot taken North of the Dam, on a path I've never walked before. Castle Rock is visible in the distance. Shot with a 0.9 ND grad.
The extra is simply the road over the Dam, which has been closed to traffic for some years now. I just liked that the autumn leaves are still blowing around the road halfway through February.
