Matlock Bath

Headed down to stay near Matlock last night and, after a pub meal, enjoyed our first van game - Fox in the Forest Duet. It's a cooperative trick taking game where you're not supposed to talk tactics but work together to beat the game. We decided we'd learn more from talking in the first game!

This morning, we woke up to it snowing! The campsite is quite high up so by the time we'd had breakfast and headed downhill to Matlock there was nothing to be seen.

Our walk took us from Matlock Bath, over High Tor and down into Matlock where we stopped at a very pleasant cafe for lunch overlooking the bandstand. It was then a walk back over the other side, up to the Heights of Abraham, through a long mud bath (not sure I've ever walked in so much gloop!) and down to Matlock Bath for an afternoon snack (why not?!) before the final loop up and back.

All in all a pleasant outing and back to the van for dinner and another game - with less talking this time. I bought the game on purpose to reduce competitiveness while we're travelling. Somehow, Rich managed to utter, I won - which did surprise both of us! After a minor correction to We, we concluded the game is definitely staying in the van and works perfectly on our miniature gaming table.

Time for a monster kip!
