I often think of what I would do
With a lottery win, or even two
It’s nice to think of all those dreams
I’ve carried bursting at the seams
No longer just a fantasy
But a new remarkable reality.
But on days when I come down
To the sunlight playing on my home
I realise that what I have today
Is more than remarkable in its way.
Don’t dream too much about what might be.
Just be grateful for this reality.
An unusually sentimental and traditional poem for me. But I am truly grateful for the wonderful life I have. These sentiments may have been produced from finishing Stephen Coe’s very well constructed novel Bournville which takes us from 1945 through to 2022 and the lives of one midlands family.
