Road childishness

I think I have to establish at the outset that my van has a speed limiter that stops me doing more than 60mph or this behaviour won't appear as absurd as it seemed to me.

So, I was in Dundee seeing Ewan and doing some flat-related shopping. Nothing important or interesting. But on my way back, tootling along at my limited maximum speed, sometimes overtaking slower vehicles but mostly being passed by others. I passed one of those flat-bed trucks, and thought nothing of it. A few minutes later he decides to speed up and pass me just as I'm getting to the rear end of a lorry. I have to slow down. So I let him pass, still thinking nothing than "odd" of it.

Now, I've noticed in the past that often what happens is that someone who I pass suddenly realises that they have been driving slower than they think a real man should so they soon overtake me and then, almost immediately, slow down again and I find myself passing them again. As happened with Mr Flat-bed. And within a couple of minutes he's speeded up again, presumably mortified that his sexuality has been questioned once again by this speed-limited minibus. And he does it as I'm getting to the back of something that looks like a kids toy. But this time he slows to the speed of the toy car holding me behind it for a minute or so before speeding up again.

I'm finding this quite funny and a little bizarre. I mean, if you really want to assert your manliness wouldn't you keep your speed up, burn some rubber, overtake an Audi. Where's the achievement in overtaking a van with a speed limiter?

Anyway, it's not long until we're going over the Friarton Bridge and, of course, he's slowed down again so, still chugging along at 60mph, I pass him but this time he's taking the exit to Stirling so he just flicks the v as I pass him. Funny man.
