Snowdrops, hellebores and dogwoods

A fine day with our friends from Waltham Abbey. A sunny and cold day took us a 50 mile jaunt to Anglesey Abbey to see their Winter Garden and Snowdrop Trails.

Well worth the travel and very popular being as it was half term and a sunny day. Well worth liked the Winter Garden best with its snowdrops, aconites, hellebores, crocuses, daffodils, witch hazels, dogwoods and sweet box combining to make a great show.

I’d never heard of sweet box until a Blipper mentioned it recently. It certainly has a distinctive and sweet scent.

Plenty of good food and company as well, topped and tailed by a trouble free journey there and back along the M25. It’s not very often I can say that.
