The gulls weren’t the only bird life encountered on today’s lunchtime walk: Buzzards overhead, Grey Wagtail on the beck, Grey Heron on Red Brick Dam, Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming in the distance…
Later, I headed up to Silsden for some mid-week football. Silsden are having their best season ever, unbeaten in the league since September and comfortably top of the NCEL table. Promotion to the Northern Premier League for the first time in their history seems a real possibility.Tonight’s visitors were mid-table Rossington Main.
It seemed that the game was going to form when Silsden took a two goal lead, but Rossington replied with two of their own to make it 2-2 at half-time. Both teams continued to have chances but there was no further score. Silsden will see this as a couple of points dropped, and that is now three consecutive draws for them in the league, but they remain nine points clear at the top of the table, in the sole automatic promotion place, with nine games to go…
