Crete Day 1

NOTE I have lost all the normal photos for this holiday, so have had to use screenshots from the very outdated video which was copied on to VHS tape & now digitalised. Quality terrible but the archive "For the Record" is the more important part for me.

Munich to Iraklio/Heraklion/Herakleion, Crete somewhere over the Alps on a magical-mystery, last-minute, two-week, short-holiday. No idea which hotel, but it's guaranteed to be close to the sea - apparently.

Flight OK, bus transfer coach ready and full & then the mystery started. Bus winds it's way through Heraklion and then out into the suburbs along the coast, heading north and west, stopping from time to time to let the passengers who were called out by name off at their hotels. The bus emptied till there were just four of us and finally after seemingly two hours we arrived at the final destination, by which time it was dark. Evening meal was provided first and then at reception given our room key. It was awful! Room was a semi basement, the only window looking directly upwards to the road just 2 meters away! We immediately tried to get help from the tour company representative but there were problems. Have to sleep this one out & get a solution tomorrow.
