Keep recycling
Over the past years, I have been making fingerless gloves, neck warmers, snoods and even hot water bottle covers out of old bits of holey cashmere and wool jumpers. Having made every permutation for my family and friends, I decided to put the remains of the bits on Freecycle for someone else to use.
I got an immediate request from a lady who is making herself a 'coat' out of squares of wool and would love to take what I had to be able to finish it.
I told her I would leave the bag outside the front door as I was spending the day in bed and feeling pretty rough and I didn't want to answer the door. She wrote back and said that she was sorry I was feeling rough and when she came to collect the bag, would bring me some freshly laid eggs from her chickens. Aren't people kind!! I am delighted that someone else will have fun with these scraps, otherwise they would have been thrown away. In amongst the bits was a half finished fingerless glove which she was thrilled to get as she said she could never work out how you cut them out and sewed them together.
Well done Freecycle!
