It's Still Here!

Looks as if, with these cold temps, that the snow is here to stay. 

A little more fell today but the biggest problem was still yesterday's snow; The winds came up along with powerful gusts that whipped that snow off roofs and into drifts wherever it could - primarily, of course, into freshly cleared driveways, decks (extra) and sidewalks!  Never fails. 

Speaking of sidewalks....The town requires us to clear the public sidewalk in front of our homes, which has always been an irritant for me. I cannot do it myself and so have to hire someone to do it. Sidewalks, however, along bus routes etc, get theirs cleared by the town. Lucky them. 

Well, last night my snow removal fellow had cleared that sidewalk as best he could and then, today, along came the town's snow plough to clear the street itself and you can see in the extras where that snow got dumped! That sidewalk will not get shovelled out anytime in the near future! At least not by me! 

So, today, although a stat holiday for "Family Day" when everyone is encouraged to get out and about to celebrate with family, was yet another snowed-in day for many of us. 

PS: This afternoon, we got news of the plane crash at Toronto Pearson Airport ...mention was made of wind gusts that could have played a role. We certainly had felt the wind here but had no idea just how dangerous it might have been at the airport.
