Huge waves

As I walked the last part of the coastal path into Camara de Lobos. We think the section between Hotel Orca Praia and the Cement works is still not passable.

I went the usual route, on the number one bus to the terminus. The colours and the dramatic waves were wonderful.

I was on a mission. My wonderful Madeiran taxi driver had recommended a restaurant that locals love and I wanted to try it out, initially for a snack. It’s virtually on the beach in Praia de Vigario, the quiet beach below Cabo Girao, and before the first Faja. It’s near the bandstand and the church.

He’s right. It’s a gem.
Full of locals, in particular business people at lunchtime, and the menu has such a wonderful variety of fresh seafood. I had a good look at what others were having too.

It was a bit hard to find the way in (using several concrete staircases) but I’ll certainly be back, ideally with friends who come over.

Extras: I’ve never seen all the boats taken out of the water before and the tourist bit.
