My neighbour, Dr Gordon invited me along to his event this evening. I had to decline. Apart from the fact that a dram hasn’t passed my lips in over four months, Liverpool are on the telly. My advice would be to choose the good stuff and savour it slowly.

I’ve learned a lot from Gordon over the years, but then he spent over two decades as a Director of the Scotch Whisky Research Institute and is a Keeper of the Quaich, Freeman of the City of London and Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Distillers, so he knows his stuff. I hope he draws an appreciative audience.
