A day in Galle

Quiet morning and then into Galle Fort for the afternoon. We walked around the ramparts, M remembering how as a boy he used to collect pretty fish from the rock pools and take them home to keep. We wandered the streets, did a small bit of shopping. I like this church with Muslim crescents on it: no idea what it actually is nowadays. The religious mix in Sri Lanka is fascinating: a small number of of Muslims mainly in the south and east; a lot of Tamils - Hindus - everywhere, but in the majority in the north and east. Buddhists are the majority everywhere else, and there must be a few Christians as M attended St Aloysius college, which we can see from the back of the hotel we’re staying at.
