Now, as I see it......

Iris

A couple of years ago I planted up a couple of pots with layered bulbs; miniature irises, tulips and daffodils with pansies on the top.  The idea was that each layer would come into bloom at different times providing a long display.

The theory was good; the plants did indeed come up at different times.  However, I had the pots at the front of the house where they are close to open woodland.  As each of the flower buds came up they were very neatly bitten off, I assume by Muntjacs from the woods.  Consequently, I brought the pots into the back garden and left them in a corner by the bins and, frankly, forgot about them.

Today I happened to look at them and noticed that four of the miniature irises have bloomed.  Lovely to see the first proper flowers of the year in the garden; I've moved the pots to a more prominent spot (but well away from deer) where hopefully al the blooms will come out.
